Twinkletoes (OFSTED NO. EY255234) is a privately owned Pre-school for 2 - 5 year old children, and provide wrap around care between the hours of 8am and 4pm, and an After School Club between 3.30 pm and 5.45 pm, We also run a Breakfast Club at Trimley St Martin Primary School where the After School Club is held each day. We also run a Holiday Club according to demand. We offer 30 hours for 3 and 4 year olds to those entitled to funding. Our GDPR Registration No. is ZA136552.
We are situated in Trimley St. Martin Methodist Hall, rented from the Methodist Church , and our Out of School Clubs (OFSTED NO. EY418111) are run from Trimley St. Martin School.
Our aim is to provide a caring and safe environment where each child can express itself as an individual. We will take the children on a learning journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum through play, providing educational skills in a fun, happy and relaxed Pre-school. ETHOS - We provide a caring and safe environment where each child can express itself as an individual. The children have opportunities to play with ideas in different situations with a rich variety of resources, enhancing their ability to think creatively, critically and ask questions, developing self-identity and self-esteem, within the Twinkletoes Pre-school community.
STAFF - our well trained, friendly staff are always on hand to help with any queries. Sara, the Manager holds an Early Years Degree with Early Years Professional Status, and all of the staff have or are working towards a Level 3 qualification in Early Education. Several members of staff also have a Level 3 qualification in play work. Our staff ratio is 1 adult to every four 2 year olds and one adult to every eight 3 year olds. All our staff have their First Aid qualification. Our staff say: "the Pre-school is a home from home, a friendly caring, safe environment where the staff and children can enjoy themselves". Our parents think that safety is good and the staff are very friendly and approachable. Staff are calm and confident, managing many behaviours outstandingly with good praise techniques, providing a good range of activities and resources. Staff use adaptive teaching to suit the needs of children. (OFSTED July 2017).
OUR PLAYROOM - Our Pre-school children enjoy a combination of child initiated and adult-led activities. They are encouraged to make independent choices and develop their critical thinking. The room has defined areas of learning and activities are changed throughout the day, depending on children's interest, requests and learning adventures. Children are regularly involved in musical activities as well as arts and crafts and opportunities to investigate, discover and experiment with their ideas. There is access to an Ipad and a range of ICT equipment. Pre-school operate a free-flow system whereby children can choose to play inside or outside. The children engage in daily Pre-school Language and Social Interaction groups, where fun activities help to prepare them for school.
Children set themselves challenges, staff are skilled at questioning children especially during activities and they instil resilience and independence which means children are school ready (OFSTED July 2017)
PARENT PARTNERSHIPS - At Twinkletoes we respect parents as their child's first and most enduring care-givers and educators. From settling and day to day care, to assessing and planning, we include and value parents'input. It is important for children to witness the good relationships between parents and practitioners. We have many ways of communicating with parents - a notice board, email, Facebook, text, as well as daily hand-over discussions and with our open door policy, parents are invited for regular reviews on their child's progression.
Staff work exceptionally well with parents and outside professionals to improve outcomes for children. They embrace opportunities to complete specialist training which helps to deepen their understanding of how best to support children's social and communication needs (OFSTED July 2017)

SPECIAL NEEDS - Children with special needs, like all other children, are admitted to the Pre-school after consultation between parents, Pre-school leader and key person.. Our aim is to provide for the developmental needs of each child in the group. The needs and progress of children who have special educational needs are monitored by our group's Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator - Donna Jacobs. Donna is an accredited SENCO and is well trained in various aspects of individual needs. She works closely with Suffolk County Council assistance. All our staff are trained in Makaton sign language and this is used in every session for all children.
